FAQs

  • Who is therapy for?

Therapy is for anyone and everyone. Much like exercising to take care of your body, therapy is a space to intentionally grow in, and strengthen your mental health. Some folks start therapy in a time of great need and others start therapy when they are looking for some extra support. All are welcome!

  • How often will we meet and for how long?

Once a week is typically a good frequency when actively working through a struggle. If transitioning into “maintenance,” the frequency can be tapered to whatever you and your therapist decide. Each session is approximately 50-minutes long. How many weeks or months you meet with your therapist varies for each person.

  • What's the first session like?

During your first session, your therapist will introduce themself, go over your confidentiality, and ask what brings you into therapy. Some folks start therapy with a specific topic in mind and others may feel unsure where to start. Your therapist will meet you wherever you are in your journey and do their best to facilitate a warm, welcoming, and safe environment.

  • What is virtual therapy?

Virtual therapy (also known as teletherapy or online therapy) allows you to meet with your therapist virtually by video call or phone call for a therapy session from the comfort of your home, workplace, or wherever best provides you with a sense of privacy and comfort.

  • How much will this cost?

The 15-minute phone consultation is free! Every session is $150. If you are interested in starting therapy but are concerned about the cost, we do offer a limited number of sliding-scale slots. Don’t let the concern of finances stop you from reaching out.

  • Do you accept insurance?

For our IL folks, we are in-network with BCBS PPO IL and Lyra (an EAP). For our TN folks and anyone out-of-network in IL, you would be self-pay. We are happy to provide a superbill for self-pay that you can then submit to your insurance company for the potential of partial reimbursement. Working through insurance has its pros and cons and we would be happy to discuss those with you.
